The famous Landesgartenschau – a fantastic, ever-changing display of the most beautiful landscapes and garden designs – takes place this year from 12 April to 7 October 2018. Now in its second year, the garden extravaganza takes place in Würzburg in Germany. Taking its lead from Würzburg’s historical links with the US Army, the festival takes place on the site of the old US barracks in Hubland. Reflecting its motto “Where the ideas grow”, the Landesgartenschau is a showcase and platform for the latest innovations and developments in horticulture. Within the Flower Hall of the show, with its “design within a design” concept created by Dieter Scheffler, there will be a different flower and plant theme every 14 days. The innermost space within this hall will be flanked at all times by six LivePanels, making the perfect backdrop for each flower theme as it changes.
These LivePanels have been installed by Decker Greenoffice, a company specialising in interior and exterior landscaping and the ideal partner to ensure the walls are expertly maintained throughout the show.
Prime Minister of Bavaria: Markus Söder, opens the Landesgartenschau 2018 in Würzburg. Mobilane LivePanel inspires audience and politics.

Thanks to the innovative watering system, the plants are supplied with water and fertilizers for about four weeks. Its’ in-built water indicators report if water is needed and when the reservoir is full.
LivePicture GO is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Its recyclable plastic frame (51.6 x 51.6 cm) houses an interchangeable plant cassette into which one’s own choice of plants are placed. The frame is available in standard colours of white, grey, black and red. The patented LivePicture GO has been developed in collaboration with product designer QDP from Duiven, Holland.
highways england has installed its first ‘green bridge’ as part of the new £192 million a556 knutsford to bowdon dual carriageway, and has used mobilane green screens as part of the innovative new feature.
The project to improve links between M6 and M56 includes seven new bridges plus a pedestrian underpass along the length of the 4.5 mile new road. Other work includes concrete retaining walls and repairs to two existing bridges.
The new ‘green bridge’ has been built to provide a safe crossing for wildlife and is part of a focus on the environment which Highways England is committed to in order to minimise the impact of roads on native species and the natural environment. Other measures include reducing noise, and protecting watercourses from pollutant spillage.
“The ‘green bridge’ features the use of Mobilane Green Screens,” explains Paul Garlick of Mobilane. “Green Screens are wire security fences upon which ivy has been cultivated. In total 88 1.8m high screens were purchased and installed by Costain. These screens feature Hedera Helix Woerner and powder coated steel posts.
“Green Screens have a wide range of uses for domestic, public sector and commercial applications including housing developments, schools, hospitals and car parks. Many local authorities use them on roadside verges. However, the use of our Screens on this ‘green bridge’ is a first. It really helps to underline the sustainability credentials of the Screens and we are very proud they have been used on this landmark construction.”
The new dual carriageway will make travelling between the M6, south Manchester and Manchester Airport quicker and more predictable. It will bring significant benefits to strategic traffic by reducing journey times.
Fusing art and planting when indoor greenery becomes living art
Urban LivePicture makes its UK debut at Grand Designs London Live 2017, the multi-award winning home inspirations event at London’s ExCel from April 29 to May 7, 2017. It is being launched by UK company Urban Roof Gardens, which has exclusive rights to sell Urban LivePicture direct to consumers in the UK (Stand: GF10). A special aromatic “Herb Edition” has been created for Grand Designs Live comprising a selection of herbs and designed to hang on a wall in the kitchen, affording keen chefs the freshest source herbs for their dishes.
LivePicture is a living wall-hung picture system that uses plants to create a healthier and more attractive living and working environments. The health advantages of plants in the workplace are well understood, however, they can take up valuable space. Mobilane has developed LivePicture to deliver the aesthetic and health benefits of plants without taking up valuable floor space and in a system that requires minimal maintenance. Due to its innovative design LivePicture requires no power and consequently can be installed virtually anywhere. The benefits of using LivePicture include cleaner air, improved humidity, reduced noise pollution, lower stress levels and increased productivity levels. The LivePicture plant cassettes can be changed in moments and need watering only every four weeks.
Urban LivePicture was invented and designed in Holland in 2016 and has already proved extremely popular in commercial spaces – hotels, restaurants, offices. This is the first time, however, it is available to be purchased by private individuals in the UK. If you are visiting the Grand Designs show, pop in to stand GF10 and check out LivePicture.

We were delighted with Ecobuild 2017. Our stand No: E120 was exceptional this year and featured all of our living systems beautifully displayed, including LivePanel living walls, Green Screens, LivePicture, LiveDivider, and our Mobiroof green roof system.
However, it was the quality and number of visitors to our stand that really impressed us.
We saw more architects and students stop by the stand than we have in previous years. Architects were the majority of visitors, and there was clearly more awareness about living systems, with more architects considering incorporating living systems into their designs. We were particularly pleased that almost all of our visitors knew about us in advance and had planned a visit to us into their days.
Mobilane enjoys interacting with students as they will become the influencers and specifiers of tomorrow, and as our products are full of innovation, we see the value in students showing an interest. We always go out of our way to answer their questions and give them all the information and materials they need.
The Response to all of our products was great, and we got great feedback, especially for the ease of LivePanel; the convenience of GreenScreens; and the ease of fitting of Mobiroof. As a modular clip-together system, Mobiroof offers a lot of installation advantages over rival systems, and this clearly appealed to lots of visitors on our stand.
Now that Ecobuild is over, the work starts on following up on enquiries and new contacts we met. We have taken lots of enquiries and requests to present CPDs on all products across the UK. Our living systems are well known in the capital and are greatly expanding into other parts of the UK.
We also saw quite a lot of international visitors, coming from as far as Australia.
We want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who visited us at the exhibition, as well as all our loyal customers.
